David L. Evans, Austin
David L. Evans has over 40 years of experience as a leader in behavioral health, intellectual and developmental disabilities, and substance use disorders. He currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer for Integral Care, the Travis County Local Mental Health and IDD Authority, and as the Executive Director of the Center’s affiliated non-profit organization, Integral Care Foundation. Mr. Evans holds a Master of Arts degree from Oakland University in Education and a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Science.
Mr. Evans serves as a member of the Health and Human Services Commission’s Joint Committee on Access and Forensic Services, as a Board Member of the Austin Healthcare Council, as Vice Chair of the Indigent Care Collaboration HIE, as a member of Steering Committee for the Austin State Hospital Redesign, and as a member of the American Association on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. He also teaches public policy classes at the University of Texas Hicks School of Social Work. Formerly he served as the state Commissioner of MH/MR/SA in Georgia and state Director of IDD services in Nebraska.
His recognitions include the Visionary Leader Award from the National Council for Behavioral Health, the Healthcare Leader of the Year Award from the Austin Business Journal, and the Saul Feldman Award for Lifetime Achievement from The College for Behavioral Health Leadership.
