Dr. Melissa Eshelman, Austin
Dr. Melissa Eshelman is the Associate Director for Psychiatric Services at the University of Texas at Austin, where she oversees psychiatric services for undergraduate and graduate students. She is an Associate Professor for the UT Austin Dell Medical School Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. Dr. Eshelman is the Past President of the Texas Society of Psychiatric Physicians. TSPP represents 1,700 psychiatrists in Texas through eighteen Chapters and is among the American Psychiatric Association’s largest District Branches. Dr. Eshelman is a Voting Member of the Federation of Texas Psychiatry Delegate Assembly. She was named a Distinguished Fellow by the American Psychiatric Association in 2015.
Dr. Eshelman is Board Certified in Psychiatry, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Forensic Psychiatry. Her professional experience includes work in emergency, inpatient and outpatient settings. Dr. Eshelman is a native of Texas and Latina, the daughter of parents who immigrated from Peru. Her academic interests include college mental health, transitional aged youth and improving mental health access to patients of diverse backgrounds.
