Hon. Nathaniel Moran

Hon. Nathaniel Moran currently serves as the County Judge for Smith County, Texas, a position he has held since July of 2016.  Judge Moran has also been a practicing attorney since 2002 with a focus on business litigation and transaction work and general civil litigation.  A native of East Texas and graduate of Whitehouse High School, he continued his education at the U. S. Military Academy and Texas Tech University, where he received a bachelor’s degree in Russian (1997), an MBA (1998), and his law degree (2002). 

Judge Moran was previously elected three times to the Tyler City Council, and has served the Smith County community through various volunteer positions with the Discovery Science Place, the Whitehouse ISD Education Foundation, Boy Scouts of America Troop 370, and Cancer Foundation for Life. In 2009, he was the recipient of the Tyler Area Chamber of Commerce’s W.C. Windsor Award for the most outstanding citizen under the age of 40, and in 2020 was recently recognized as the Leadership Tyler Distinguished Alumni.  He and his wife Kyna are the proud parents of four children (Caleb, Victoria, Juliette, and Lincoln) ranging from age 16 to 4.
