Justice Jeff Brown was appointed to the Supreme Court in 2013 and elected the following year. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin and graduated magna cum laude from the University of Houston Law Center. In his first year as a lawyer, Jeff served as a law clerk to two justices of the Supreme Court of Texas—including then-Justice and now Governor Greg Abbott. Justice Brown is an active member of the Federalist Society, has served on several non-profit boards, including the Texas Historical Foundation and the Christian Community Service Center, and on the advisory board of LifeHouse of Houston. A judge for more than 15 years, he has worked at all three levels of the Texas judiciary. Before the Supreme Court, he served six years each on an intermediate court of appeals and as a district judge.
