Brenda Keller serves as the Director of the Veterans Mental Health Department for the Texas Veterans Commission. In this role she coordinates and provides direction of statewide mental health programs for veterans, service members, and their families.
Brenda is a mental health clinician who has worked in the field of social work for over 25 years with over 15 years of advanced clinical social work experience. She earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in social work. Brenda has worked in child welfare, hospital emergency departments, community mental health, in-patient psychiatric units, Active-Duty Military, and volunteered in the AmeriCorps. She worked as an Active-Duty Clinical Social Worker in the U. S. Air Force with service members from all military branches and their families specializing in PTSD, trauma, and crisis intervention.
Over the past ten years Brenda has mentored many social work interns as well as supervised social workers earning their clinical hours towards licensure. Brenda is a passionate advocate for organizations to meaningfully integrate trauma-informed care, evidence-based practices, and strengths-based, solution-focused interventions. Brenda currently serves in the U. S. Air Force Reserves as a clinical social worker and has her clinical license with supervisory designation in social work.
